LG Electronics has achieved its highest-ever financial results for the second quarter, propelled by significant demand for its home appliances, vehicle components, and HVAC systems. The company announced a preliminary operating profit of 1.58 trillion won, or approximately $1.04 billion, marking a remarkable 146.9% increase from the same period last year. Revenue also saw a substantial rise, climbing 14.9% to total 23.83 trillion won, exceeding market predictions.
In the first half of the year, LG reported a record-breaking 47.56 trillion won in revenue and an operating profit of 3.25 trillion won, setting new benchmarks for the company. These impressive figures were bolstered by increased sales across key sectors, enhanced cost efficiencies, and growth in subscription services and webOS. The expansion of online sales also played a crucial role in these results.
The company’s home appliance, vehicle solutions, and HVAC divisions were the main engines of growth. The demand for premium home appliances, advanced automotive infotainment systems, and efficient cooling solutions surged, especially in Europe, where recent heatwaves have heightened the need for HVAC systems. These conditions have significantly contributed to LG’s outstanding performance in this quarter.
LG emphasized its ongoing investments in future growth areas, focusing on AI-powered data center cooling technologies and sophisticated robotics components.
