Trump Media Refocuses on Truth Social, Reports $238 Million Loss

by admin477351

Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, announced a significant financial setback with a $238 million loss in the second quarter. This downturn comes as the company refocuses its efforts on its core social media platform, stepping back from its recent forays into cryptocurrency and other ventures.

The company did, however, report a revenue increase, generating $1.7 million during the quarter, which more than doubles the revenue from the same period last year. Under the leadership of new CEO Kevin McGurn, Trump Media plans to channel its resources primarily into bolstering its social media business while still pursuing select projects like its anticipated merger with nuclear fusion firm TAE Technologies.

In a bid to diversify its offerings, Trump Media introduced the Truth API, a premium service providing financial firms with early access to posts by Donald Trump and other notable Truth Social users. This service is priced between $60,000 and $100,000 monthly and has already signed up 10 customers, mainly high-frequency trading firms.

By the end of the quarter, the company retained over $400 million in cash and short-term investments, in addition to about $1.2 billion in bitcoin and related assets. Meanwhile, it carries approximately $1 billion in debt through convertible notes set to mature in 2028.
